Begur, Costa Brava, Spain

Begur is located in the heart of the Baix Empordà region. Together with the beaches of Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aiguablava, Illa Roja, Platja Fonda and Platja del Racó,  it is one of the most beautiful spots on the Costa Brava.

A medieval castle towers over the town, where numerous “indiano” mansions can be found. Winding streets and alleys in the old quarter as well as former fishermen’s huts in the nearby coves, all bear witness to the long, intense history of the area. Inhabited over the years by pirates, sailors, coral seekers, fishermen and returned “indiano” emigrants from Cuba.
